Not everyone gets a fairy tale life of sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes you get the shit end of the stick. Jackson's mother was a waitress at some rat hole diner and his father was a factory worker.

They both made crap for time and most of it was spent on alcohol and drugs. Neither of them really cared about being parents so jackson had a rough life. By the time he was a teen and him and his father kept coming to blows. 

Finally her just left and spent his next years boosting cars and doing whatever it took to keep alive. Eventually he ran into a woman named Lulu who gave him a job as a prospect. He has worked his way up the ranks to one of her most trusted  men. 

Arrogant. Jax has the air of I'm better than any of you pheasants. He believes he is the best and his self worth is far higher than it actually is.
